Switch accountant

Switch accountants without the usual hassle.

In most cases, we’ll handle your switch to Blond Wolf as part of your ongoing service — including contacting your previous accountant and reviewing the handover.

If the handover reveals significant additional work, we’ll review it first. If a separate fee is genuinely necessary, we’ll explain the work and agree the price with you before we start.

Already paid your accountant this year?

That doesn’t necessarily mean you need to wait to switch. We’ll review what you’ve already paid for and what work remains outstanding as part of the handover. Usable work, such as completed bookkeeping or an appropriate trial balance, is assessed individually and any adjustment is confirmed in your proposal.

Switching costs

Switching is normally included in your ongoing service. Occasionally a handover reveals substantial extra work, such as overdue accounts or returns, a significant bookkeeping backlog or incomplete records. We first assess whether it can reasonably be handled within your service. If a separate fee is genuinely necessary, we explain the work and agree the price before we start.

How long it takes

How long a switch takes depends mainly on how complete your records are and how quickly your current accountant responds. We plan around your upcoming deadlines and keep you updated.

Need us to take over the bookkeeping too?

Tell us about your current setup and we’ll assess your bookkeeping requirements as part of the switch.

FAQ

Questions about switching

Do I need to tell my current accountant myself?

No. With your written authority, we contact them with a professional clearance request.

What documents will I need?

We’ll tell you exactly what we need once we’ve seen your answers. Usually it’s your latest accounts and tax returns, plus anything your current accountant doesn’t hold.

Can I switch part-way through my financial year?

Usually, yes, subject to a review of your records and upcoming deadlines.

Is there a notice period?

Our standard service is designed to be flexible and does not have a fixed notice period. Any work already completed, committed work or outstanding fees remain subject to your engagement terms.

Are there costs for switching?

Switching is normally included in your ongoing service. If the handover reveals significant additional work — for example overdue or incomplete records — we’ll explain the work and agree any extra fee with you before it starts.
